PLANT CANADA 2019

Canadian Association for Plant Biotechnology

The Canadian Association for Plant Biotechnology was founded in 1970-1971 as the International
Association for Plant Biotechnology Canada (IAPB Canada). The association went through
multiple name changes (in 1998 and 2006), and in 2015, renamed as Canadian Association for
Plant Biotechnology (CAPB). Our goals are to promote interaction among Plant Biotechnology
researchers in Canada, liaise with the International Association of Plant Biotechnology, advocate
for Plant Biotechnology research, bridge the gap between academia/basic research and industry
and serve as a contact point for Plant Biotechnology-related information in Canada. CAPB
provides a forum of communication for its members to further the development of Plant
Biotechnology in Canada. It also provides an excellent opportunity for new collaborations among
industry leaders and researchers, helping to connect people who conduct plant biotechnology
research. The association holds biennial meeting in Canada. More information can be found at
