Sunday June 10
Welcome Reception, Commonwealth Ballroom, Hilton Garden Inn
This opening reception will be a great place to meet old friends and
get acquainted with new ones while listening to the mellow sounds of
POP'N the CLUTCH. This group features three of Saskatoon's best jazz
musicians, who perform an engaging blend of smooth jazz, pop jazz,
and rhythm and blues. This group showcases an eclectic repertoire
that includes everything from Django Reinhardt-style gypsy jazz to
inspired interpretations of timeless jazz standards. The reception
goes from 19:30 - 22:00 h and light food will be provided along with
a cash bar. The reception is included for registered conference
delegates and registered guests. Extra tickets cost $25.
Monday June 11
Graduate Student Social
The local graduate students are rolling out the red carpet and
invite all conference graduate students to celebrate the end of the
student presentations at a local pub. The event is free to Society
Students Members who pre-register for the event. All students will
meet in Salon B after the Poster Session on Monday to pick up your
tickets for the evening's adventures. The Social will start at 7 pm
at O'Shea's Irish Pub at 222 2nd Avenue South.
Wine Education
Test your palate and wine IQ at this early evening event on Josie's
Deck at the Hilton Garden Inn. We will have members of the
International Sommelier Guild to guide you through the tasting of
five wines and teach you what makes each one special through the
different viticultural and vinification techniques used to produce
them. Hors d'oeuvres selected to complement the wines will be served
to demonstrate the influence of food-wine pairing. Pre-registration
is required and the number of tickets is limited to 45 people
maximum. The cost is $50 per person.

Saskatchewan Youth Science Journalism Challenge Awards Presentation

Wednesday June 13
Society Luncheons, Awards, and Annual General Meetings
Join your Society to celebrate the achievements of your colleagues
at the Society Awards Presentations and participate in the business
of the day whether it is the annual meeting, elections, or just
informal discussions to make the Society stronger. The luncheon is
included with registration.
Conference Banquet
Now that we are all old friends, come out to the conference banquet
to sip a little wine, share a few stories, and dance well into the
evening hours. The banquet will be held in the Salon Rooms at TCU
Place, starting at 18:30 h with a cash bar. Dinner will give you a
taste of Saskatchewan's best agricultural products with classic
prairie hospitality. Wine to complement the meal will be provided at
each table. During the meal MARTIN JANOVSKY will tickle the ivories
on the grand piano. After dinner you can limber up or down to the
exotic international sounds from Brazil with music by SOLAR RIO.
This band offers a sizzling performance guaranteed to thrill
audiences with a creative mix of Brazilian jazz, Latin standards and
up-tempo dance music. The band features Brazilian artists K.K.
Nogueira on guitar and vocals, and Eduardo Valle on cavaquinho and
percussion, along with accomplished local players Sheldon Corbett on
saxophone, keyboards and flute, Lloyd Tomczak on bass, and Paul
Benjamin on drums.
DUE TO LIMITED SEATING, BANQUET TICKETS MUST BE PURCHASED IN ADVANCE
For a registered conference delegate the ticket costs $10. For a
registered conference guest the ticket costs $50. Additional tickets
cost $60 each. All tickets are sold on a first-come basis.
