Hotel Senator is a historic 42-room boutique hotel located in the heart of downtown a few blocks from the convention centre. When built in 1908, the hotel was equipped with every modern convenience of the day (steam heating, electricity, telephones, and hot-cold water in every room!). There was lavish use of marble, ornamental scrolls, ornate moldings and friezes, as well as intricate wrought iron work demonstrating Saskatoon's new prosperity. Over the years, there have been extensive renovations, each done with care to preserve its history. The guest rooms are comfortable and clean, each with free local calls, cable TV, radio, air conditioning, and coffee maker. The hotel has an elegant fine-dining restaurant and popular local bar. The conference rates are $63.50 plus taxes for single rooms and $71.50 plus taxes for double rooms. In addition there are 2 suites each with 2 double beds and a hide-away-bed couch, for $89.50 plus taxes. Note that applicable taxes are 5% PST, 6% GST, and 2% DMF.
